Pharmacy Technician Program
Pharmacy Technicians assist licensed pharmacists in providing the means for comfort and healing to men, women and children every day.
More and more pharmacies are giving their Pharmacy Technicians increased responsibility, which means that formally trained, certified individuals are in much higher demand than in the past.
Pharmacy Technicians:
- prepare and fill prescriptions under the direction of a pharmacist
- issue medicine
- label and store supplies
- prepare IV solutions
According to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, employment of Pharmacy Technicians is expected to “grow faster than average” for all occupations over the next 10 years. Additionally the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) reports that about 60% of Pharmacy Technicians that pass the national examination will receive higher pay rates.
At SLCHC, our Pharmacy Technician Program was created based on the PTCB recommendation for course content that will provide graduates the best opportunity to pass the certification exam.
