What a Medical Billing and Coding School Teaches

A medical billing and coding specialist performs a valuable role in a medical office, hospital, clinic, or healthcare organization by managing the health information of patients. Services such as diagnoses and procedures are assigned codes and recorded for billing by the specialist.

Communication with physicians and other health care providers and patients is very important in this job, as is knowledge of various insurance programs such as those provided by Medicaid and Medicare.

SLCHC was founded in 1981 by college educators who wanted to fill the void in technical training for health care positions such as licensed practical nurses and medical office administrators. Many employers were forced to train employees on the job at the same time their need to fill these positions grew. Much-needed formal classroom and clinical training was absent.

The answer was a medical billing and coding school that could produce certified professionals in the booming health care field with quality technical instruction and training. SLCHC is fully accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), which is recognized by the U. S. Department of Education. Our health care students come from all areas around St. Louis, including Fenton, Webster Groves, Kirkwood, Clayton, Manchester, Baldwin, Mehlville, Arnold, Maryland Heights, University City, East St. Louis, FairviewHeights, Jennings, MO.
