St. Louis College of Health Careers (SLCHC) is a progressive institution dedicated to training individuals to understand the complexities and sophistication of modern medical systems.
Founded in 1981 by collegiate educators, St. Louis College of Health Careers specializes in training students for successful, rewarding careers in the health care field. Prior to the inception of the College, a void existed in technical training for many types of health care positions.
The continued growth of health care in St. Louis continues to increase the demand for trained support staff in specialty support areas. The founders recognized early on that formalized classroom and clinical training was missing in many technical areas of health care. On-the-job training was used as a replacement for traditional classroom training. Thus, the conceptual foundation was missing.
By applying collegiate style education with conceptual and theoretical models of instruction for the training of future health care professionals, SLCHC has grown and expanded its programming.
St. Louis College of Health Careers has two campuses - a main campus in the Metro area and a branch campus in the Fenton area. Many of the program clinical rotations are held in local medical facilities. Graduates of the College's programs are now providing patient care and patient services throughout the St. Louis area.
